Guidelines for Grant Applicants To be considered for support, an organization must be tax-exempt (501c3), the proposal must fit the Foundation’s mission, and address the Foundation’s funding priorities: improving access to healthcare, preventive care and career opportunities for all Salem County, New Jersey residents. The Foundation will give preference to proposals that combine networking arrangements with public and private sources of funding using the Foundation’s support as a matching or challenge grant. The Foundation generally does not support ongoing operating expenses or existing deficits, retirement of debt, capital projects, endowments, or projects for which third-party reimbursement is available. The Foundation should not be perceived as a long-lasting source of funding for an ongoing project. A plan for funding long-term projects after expenditure of the grant should be provided. The Foundation reviews proposals on a quarterly basis in March, June, September and December. The grant application process takes a minimum of four months. Amounts awarded may vary widely and depend upon the significance of the project and funds available. While no limitations are placed on the amounts requested, it is anticipated that most awards will be in the range of $5,000 to $50,000. The Foundation is restricted to areas of activity within the objects and purposes in its Certificate of Incorporation. The Foundation will undertake periodic reassessment of its Areas of Interest within the limitations of its restricted purposes. |
